Indian paramilitary and police personnel equipped with sophisticated weapons have been deployed while razor wire has been laid in all parts of the city to restrict the mourning processions.

It is to mention here that traditionally, the main procession of 8th Muharram procession used to start from Habba Kadal, Guru Bazar and Shaheed Gunj areas of Srinagar and culminates in Dalgate area.
