Scrutiny of nomination forms and objections

• The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stated that over 15,000 nomination papers were filed by candidates with electoral body as deadline expired on Monday.
As per details, ECP has forwarded data of all candidates to departments concerned including Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Meanwhile, ECP is scrutinising the data submitted by candidates through online scrutiny system whereas the process of scrutiny will be summed up by June 19.
• A senior official of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) revealed that they have received around 1,000 tax returns under the amnesty scheme announced by the previous government. The three month old tax amnesty scheme which was announced in April, has also been recently endorsed by the Supreme Court as well, who heard the case in its Lahore registry on Monday.
• Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa held a meeting with Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani during his Kabul visit.
The COAS also had meetings with Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Commander Resolute Support Mission (RSM) General John Nicholson.
“The COAS congratulated Afghanistan authorities on recent peace initiatives especially in respect of the Holy month of Ramazan/ Eid and hoped that the steps gain more of permanence ultimately leading towards an enduring peace,”
• Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remarked on Tuesday that former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf should show how brave he is by returning to the country as the obstacles in his path have been removed.
