Man missing & 1,600 evacuated as floods hit south France

German man in his 70s, who was helping supervise children at a campsite in south-east France, was missing on Thursday after being swept away by floodwaters, police said.
The 75-year-old man was accompanying a group of around 100 German children who were evacuated from a campsite in Saint-Julien-de-Peyrolas, some 60km (37 miles) north of Avignon in the Gard region.
