The Police Reforms Committee (PRC) established by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has emphasized the need to restore public complaints against police as the top most priority.
The Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, presided by CJP Nisar, is going to reveal the PRC report today. The board was working on three broad areas of its terms of reference (ToRs), containing model police law, accountability and operational matters and legislative reforms.
The foremost question that came before the PRC was the constitutionality of police law in Pakistan. A short survey of constitutional aspects of police law in the country was held out. The record displays that since 1947, the central nature and the role of confederation in dispensing criminal justice has been constitutionally sheltered.
