As the general elections draw closer, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said on Monday that the military should not be dragged into politics and elections.
Addressing a presser in Rawalpindi, the DG said no one is happier than the military that the government completed its five-year tenure.
He said that while 2018 is an election year, this does not mean that the military should be dragged into politics. He added that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct the elections and the military has nothing to do with them. The military, he said will fulfill the role it has been enshrined under the Constitution.
