COAS: CPEC security won’t be compromised

Yao Jing, the Chinese Ambassador met with General Qamar Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff, at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, 11 September ’18. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two discussed matters of mutual interest and regional security. Gen Bajwa said that the CPEC project is a massive opportunity for Pakistan’s economic development and there would never be any compromise on it. “This is the future of our people, a vital national interest on which we will never compromise, regardless of the loudness of opposing voices.” He further stated that the Imran Khan’s government is taking measures to make the CPEC project a number one priority. Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted regarding the matter, “China’s Amb to Pak met COAS. Discussed matters of mutual interest & regional security. Amb appreciated conduct of successful visit of Chinese Foreign Minister and support for CPEC in Pak. COAS reiterated that CPEC is eco future of Pak and its security shall never be compromised.”
