Whether or not women should wear makeup to the gym is a huge question which women often ask their dermatologists. People think that women who consider to wear makeup even on gym days would have to be completely out of their minds. Nevertheless, some of us still have those days when we don’t feel confident enough to step outside the house, without having at least some makeup on. This doesn’t mean that you can use this as an excuse to miss your workout and choose to stay home. There is a way to have the best of both worlds, only if you manage to find a balance between both.
- DON’T: Don’t wear too much eye-makeup
One of the biggest mistakes you make if you’re thinking about wearing makeup to the gym is going too heavy on the eyes. Avoid wearing eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara at any cost! I’m sure your naked eyes would look better in comparison to racoon eyes after a sweaty workout.
- DO: Wear waterproof mascara
Giving up mascara is the most difficult task for someone who is in the habit of wearing it every day. In such cases, wearing a water-proof mascara would be the best option since it would not interfere with your workouts.
- DON’T: Wear Foundation
You can wear foundation for your normal day-to-day activities, however wearing foundation to your workouts is not the best idea. When you work out, you sweat, which leaves your pores open. This means your makeup is likely to settle in your pores and can end up clogging them.
- DO: Spot conceal is the way to go!
The best way to hide your imperfections, without having to wear a full face of makeup is to spot correct. You can use a concealer to hide those stubborn blemishes and dark under eyes.
- DON’T: Say NO to lipstick!
You should not end up looking like a clown after wiping all the sweat from your face and smudging your lipstick in the process.
- DO: Try Lip Balm
To avoid looking like a fool post workout, wear a hydrating lip balm instead of a lipstick. It would add a natural tint to your lips and make them look hydrated.
