One day after the governing party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the PPP members swapped points and almost got into a physical quarrel in the National Assembly, the meeting recommenced on Tuesday morning with opposition members gashing into recent remarks made by the government.
Led by NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, the meeting initiated with a discourse by senior PPP front-runner, Khursheed Shah.
Shah found the Information Minister, Fawad Chaudhry’s comments from yesterday rather insulting. In it the minister had proposed that the protestors on the roads and a couple of the politicians should be sent to space for causing turbulence throughout Pakistan.
Khursheed Shah chose to respond to this suggestion with the same sarcasm; He said that he had heard that the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) had been “asked to transport miscreants to space”.
“[I] have heard that Suparco has asked for the data of last five years. The House will be empty, if the plan goes on,” he said, signifying that the majority of those who have been causing instability during the last five years are sitting in the National Assembly.
