Mastering the Art of Letting Go

Mastering the Art of Letting Go

We always find ourselves in situations where we are required to let go of certain things. These can be as basic as school or college, friends, relationships, a pet etc. Letting go is a part of life, as we are always exiting one chapter of our life, while entering the other. The sad truth is that we tend to hold on to the past.

We all have had to let go of somethings which we have found rather challenging. Trying to let go of something or someone is one of the hardest things one has to do. We usually make a complete fool out of ourselves before finally moving on. But this can be made less difficult if we focus on certain aspects.

  • Have Faith in God and His decisions

Start with having faith in God and His decisions. If something did not turn out the way you wanted it to be, just believe that it wasn’t meant for you. This thought will comfort you and to some extent, will set you free.

  • Take your time

Don’t hate yourself for dwelling on your past more often than you should be. Know that healing requires some time.

  • Don’t hold back your tears

Holding back your tears is likely to cause you more pain than letting them out. Know that it’s okay to be upset. Know that it’s okay to let yourself grieve every now and then.

  • Focus on the Present

Instead of thinking about how the things in your past used to make you happy, try to focus on the present. Think about the little things that are currently making you happy.

  • Acknowledge your small accomplishments

Reflect on your daily achievements, no matter how tiny they may seem. For instance, spending more quality time with friends and family, dressing up to get ready or just cooking a dish.

Always remember that you’re stronger than you think you are. Every day is a new day. You can always start over!
