Despite losing series to New Zealand, Pakistan’s Yasir Shah bagged Man of the Series award. Clearly the series belonged to Yasir Shah who with his brilliant performance was talk of the town. Yasir Shah took 14 wickets in the second test match, equaling the record of Prime Minister Imran Khan, who claimed the same number of wickets in the test format. He took 8 wickets in the first innings of New Zealand and 6 in the second innings. In the first innings, New Zealand collapsed at 90 whereas their defeat came at the follow on, topped with Yasir Shah’s bowling.
In the third test match, Yasir Shah was able to break the oldest possible record of test cricket which was 82 years ago. Yasir Shah has now become the fastest spin bowler to bag 200 wickets in 32 test matches only. For New Zealand, Yasir Shah was unplayable.
In a series winning match, Kane Williamson of New Zealand was a genius as he scored 386 runs in the series averaging at 77. He also played the longest fifth wicket partnership scoring 212.
