Punjab govt paying Rs8 billion in subsidies for metro bus projects

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led federal government has decided to conduct an audit of metro bus projects in Punjab which were initiated by the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government.

During a news briefing following the federal cabinet meeting on Thursday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry outlined the costs associated with metro bus projects in Islamabad, Lahore and Multan. “The government of Punjab is giving a subsidy of approximately Rs8 billion on these projects, If this subsidy is not given, all of these projects would close,”

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government on Thursday introduced amendments in the Income Tax Ordinance of Finance Act 2018.

Following the amendments the relief provided by PML-N government in its last budget for the salaried person on their taxable income has been reduced.

The amendment draft will be presented  in the National Assembly for approval.

Now for the salaried persons with annual income of Rs400,000 to Rs800,000 will pay Rs1,000 as tax.

The persons with annual salary upto Rs400,000 are exempted from tax.
